Solar for backup power

Charge from the sun

Portable solar panels and solar generator kits that recharge a power station without a gas can or a wall outlet. Every spec and price comes from the brand’s official product page. This is a spec comparison, not a lab test.

Before you pick a panel

A folding panel only makes power while it’s in the sun. It does nothing until it’s plugged into a power station, which stores the energy and runs your devices. Three numbers decide whether a panel suits your station: the station’s maximum solar input in watts, the panel’s voltage, and the connector. Our guides cover how many solar watts you need and connector and voltage compatibility.

Rated watts are measured in lab conditions. Outdoors, clouds, heat, angle and shade cut real output, often well below the label. A station also never takes more than its own solar-input limit, however big the panel.
